The distance between-JAN 2009
It wasn't that she hadn't wanted to go on the trip. It had been paid for by the school. She saw it as a reward for hard work and graduating. It was actually the collegiate equivalent to hush money. The funding for her program and been siphoned into the athletics department through a loop hole, but she didn't care she was graduating. It would also give her and Victoria a nice trip before the real world threatened to create a rift of 2,200 miles in their friendship. She had once sat down and tried to figure out how much money the school must have diverted in funds to make a trip for 6 to India still seem like a better alternative than her group raising questions about the cash. She had decided it was too much effort. The program would have ended after this year anyway, why did she care where the money went.
The week before the trip was when she got a sinking feeling in her gut. She at first had dismissed it as something related to the nights out and the copious amounts of alcohol she had been consuming. She had her passport, she had gotten her shots, even a couple that weren't a necessity, she had her passport, language and culture guide and she wasn't one of those people who are afraid to fly.
Statistically you are more likely to be attacked by a wild animal then be involved in a plane crash.
But still she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something wrong.
And now as all of that rushed through her mind she could still hear it outside. Abigail was wedged under the dashboard in the passenger seat of a 1994 trail jeep. Her head was throbbing and an open wound on her ankle was still bleeding, though it had begun to clot. She didn't know what had happened to everyone else. She could guess though. Sight seeing she thought.
"It was the opportunity of a life time" Victoria read off the brochure, "see tigers in the wild"

Between the lines
I originally wrote this back in January of 2009. I edited a little before posting it on here. But didn't really change it up much at all. Not one of my better stories, but I still like it.
Spoiler Alert: She makes. I don't know that for sure, but I feel like she does.
